Get The Most Out Of Any Vinyl Cutter

Friday, October 13, 2017 4:33:29 AM America/Los_Angeles

When it comes to cut speed and blade depth, it is wise to begin with a much slower than usual cutting speed. Continue to do this until you are confident that the cutting speed will stay in the areas damaged by quick moving cutter blade. Most experts recommend that the lower range should begin from 10 and go until 70 for tests. Letters are best cut on 4” decal under 120 speeds. Read More

Selecting the best phone case

Wednesday, April 12, 2017 3:08:18 AM America/Los_Angeles

If you buy an expensive smartphone, it makes perfect sense to spend a little more amount of money to ensure it does not get broken or scratched. There are a number of opportunities to do so: the device could drop from your hand or a toddler could pour water on it, and many more unfortunate occurrences.

Although smartphones are getting handier by the model, and some even claim to be waterproof, the truth is that not many phones will emerge from the accident without any damage. It is thus important that you invest in a better quality phone-case.

Level of protection

This depends on how clumsy you are. You need to find out the toughness of the case. A good quality case will protect your phone from a drop to the concrete from your hand. It may also plonk in the water for a few seconds without any damage.

Read reviews

It makes excellent sense to read the reviews of the phone cases you are interested to buy. In case, the phone is a new model, and review of the case is not available, read reviews of other products made by the same manufacturer. This will provide you a general review of the product you are about to buy. Do go through the internet forums. They offer fresher information than commercial site reviews. Do confirm if the case cut-outs are precise. Cheaper cases are shoddily made and there is no port and comes with stiff button covers. If your phone does wireless charging, check without the phone's manufacturer whether the case is compatible or not.

Best price

Only the full price will be displayed on the manufacturer's website (if any). Rarely a person gives full price for a product which is available at popular shopping sites at much discounted rates. The best way to save money is to execute a comparison search. Do note that a few companies provide lifetime warranties and discount of such products will be less. These kind of premium phone cases are also more expensive. If you want to keep your phone in pristine condition, go for it!

Features are important

Consider the extra features you could want. For bigger phones, a stand function can be a vital one. A few cases provide 360 degree hinges or multiple positions. Cheaper cases have kickstands popping out of the back. If you buy one with a kickstand, make sure that they are secure. It is a killjoy if the kickstand suddenly pops out uninvited.

Maintaining Sublimation Printers

Friday, March 17, 2017 4:06:24 AM America/Los_Angeles

A sublimation printer, like any other machine, will give you a few issues over the years. This will happen. It is possible for you, however, to minimize the number of times which this occurs. This is possible if you do a few general maintenance activities. The following maintenance tips work for all printer manufacturers. Do read the instructions printed by the manufacturer before you touch your printer for maintenance activities.

Small format and large format machines have different maintenance activities.

Small format

Check nozzles first thing in the morning. This activity will be your safety net in the event that the automatic checks performed by the machine miss anything. If you do this, you will be able to ensure that the transfer will be perfect every time.

Do not switch off the machine. Unlike their older versions, the newer models go to their hibernation mode when they are not in use. They move into a self-maintenance mode at regular intervals. The automatic software checks the nozzles and moves the ink to ensure that your printer always gives the best performance. Ink is not used in the process.

Ink levels are important. This makes sure that your transfers always turn out great. You will be notified by the machine when the ink levels are near empty. You can keep your eyes on the LCD panel and figure out the time when you must order ink so that it is not exhausted in the middle of a job. The same rule is applicable to the waste tank. The LCD screen will show the tank level count. Remember that it goes up, and not down, for maintenance tanks. In case the tank becomes full, it will not be possible for you to print.

Large format

Clean the capping station. This is a rectangular pad and small in size. Use the Q-tip to clean the outside of the rubber lip. This will clear any buildup of ink. Ensure that a strong seal is formed for the maximum amount of suction. This will be needed for cleanings and things similar in process. Pour cleaning solution at frequent intervals to make sure the pad remains clean.

Wiper blade should be cleaned. This blade is important to the workings of the machine. The head moves across it and wipes off excess ink. The ink drains to the maintenance tank positioned underneath the setup. In case the wiper blade becomes dirty or saturated with ink, it cannot completely perform the job.

Properly maintaining your sublimation printer can add years to its life.

How to Choose the Right Heat Press for your Business

Friday, October 28, 2016 6:31:10 AM America/Los_Angeles

Heat presses are most used in garment manufacturing businesses and are available in a variety of different styles and sizes. The price range of heat presses can also vary dramatically, starting from under 300 dollars, going all the way up to 3000 dollars. Selecting the wrong type of heat press could mean a waste of money and also lead to inefficiency in production. Both these mistakes can impact business growth. Here are a few guidelines to help you pick the right heat press for your business. Types of Heat Presses There are basically three kinds of heat presses available in the market. Your choice of heat press will largely depend on two factors: the kinds of jobs that need to get done and the workspace area. The three heat press options include the following: Clamshell Heat Press The clamshell heat press operates exactly how the name suggests, like a clam shell. You can place the substrates and application materials on the lower platen. As the top platen closes, suitable pressure and temperature is applied on the underlying materials. This is a straightforward and single-step operation machine that offers perfect results with every use. Draw Heat Press The operation of a draw heat press is much like the opening of an actual drawer. The lower platen of the heat press will come out (in the direction of the operator), allowing for a heat-free workspace. This style of heat press saves quite a bit of space. Since the lower platen of a draw heat press isn’t stationary, it might not be the most appropriate option when dealing with delicate materials which demand a stable workspace. Swinger Heat Press The third option is the swinger heat press in which the upper platen swings away from the bottom platen. This makes the design and substrate completely accessible. Considerations As discussed earlier, the workspace area is a major consideration when it comes to selecting a heat press style. For instance, with a swinger heat press, greater floor space is necessary as compared to the clamshell model since the top platen requires room for swinging freely. Also, the swinger heat press is excellent for decorating bulkier and thicker items. It is easier to load and unload with minimal burn risks in a swinger heat press. The manually operated clamshell heat press is perhaps the most commonly used heat press and is considered to be a great entry-level machine among operators. When choosing a heat press, it is also vital to consider the muscle strength required by the operator for using the machine.

Tips on Choosing the Right Heat Press Transfer Paper

Tuesday, September 9, 2014 3:06:00 AM America/Los_Angeles

HeatPressNation’s experts are addressed with several questions regarding the kind of printers or best heat press machine. But most often, we get asked by heat press business owners of the kind of transfer paper that is best for them.

This is the reason we take this opportunity to shed light on some tips that will help you choose the right transfer paper for your customized business.

What Options Do I have Available?

Contrary to popular claim, there are actually quite a few choices available for transfer paper. This can depend on various factors, like the fabric you use, the color of the material, the kind of printer, etc. Some are even available for to be used for home, with an iron, instead of professional use. Let’s take a closer look at each of them for a clearer picture.

Black & White

We pick these two specific colors because they are an extreme form of dark and light. The transfer paper made for black garments tends to be thicker than average because of the rubber layer base made of white material. Furthermore, they are darker and more opaque.

On the other hand, when you’re printing on a light or white, ask your vendors for one specifically labeled “for light colored fabrics”. Typically, the transfer paper that is used has a transparent polymer fabric. Due to the transparency factor, the fabric printing tends to maintain a level of vibrancy and the empty spaces on your graphic will show up as it is.

Inkjet & Laser Printer Consideration

This is one of the most crucial considerations when purchasing heat transfer paper.

Generally, the transfer papers that are used for inkjet printers are available widely and are compatible with almost all transfer paper. So you need not fret much about this. They also will present better results- brighter prints and more coverage. However, inkjet printers use more ink, and therefore have a relatively higher running cost.

With regards to laser printers they are a bit cost effective in running cost due to toner being used rather than ink, but do have a higher upfront cost.  However, it is important to note that not all laser printers are compatible with laser heat transfer paper. Lucky for you, HeatPressNation has a range of Laser Printers that are compatible!

Preparing Yourself for Vinyl Cutting: All you need to know

Monday, August 25, 2014 2:56:00 AM America/Los_Angeles

Vinyl cutters are sharp blade devices used to accurately cut out patterns from vinyl sheets and paper. While these are usually priced high, HeatPressNation.com has a great range of vinyl cutters at reasonable prices. With these on hand, you can complete your equipment kit to enhance your printing business.

So, while this is an essential tool, how much do you really know about it? To make it simple for you folks, HeatPressNation.com has put together a little something to make your vinyl cutting experience more informed.

The Difference of Professional & Amateur Use

When it comes to categorization based on the purpose of usage, a vinyl cutter can be used for commercial purposes or for a hobby. A commercial cutter is designed for cutting through vinyl, in a precise sort of way. The blade, the cutting head and the software, all developed for precision.  On the other hand, the Craft cutter is one used for amateur projects like smaller t-shirt businesses. They lack the thoroughness and the cutting depth.

Vinyl Cutters & Your Material

For cutting through heat transfer vinyl, sign vinyl and heat transfer paper, you don’t need anything specialized. A less expensive model will be just fine. However, if you expect growth in your business in the next few months, then you might want a vinyl cutter that can cut through foil, thick plastic, and other kinds of fabrics. Flatbed vinyl cutters are relatively more effective in this regard, as compared to roll-fed machines.

Ensure the Vinyl Cutter & Software are Compatible

It is essential that your vinyl cutter be compatible your graphic design software, as this facilitates ease of processing each of your vinyl cuts. Ideally, your graphic design software will have direct-connect compatibility, allowing you to cut directly from the graphic design software of your choice. If your design software is not directly compatible with your vinyl cutter however, all cutters carried by HeatPressNation.com include cutting software that you may use to import your designs into, to then then send to your cutter. Check out our softwares available to you.

Other Supplies You Need with Your Vinyl Cutter

Oh, it doesn’t end just there! Now that you know about vinyl cutters, here are a few tools that are a must have for your heatpress business:

Using Your Mug Heat Press the First Time: Here’s How to do it!

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 3:18:57 AM America/Los_Angeles

As a businessman, you understand the competition in the market. Your customers are getting demanding. They expect excellence beyond par. In the heat press business of printing, the need to constantly create designs that are innovative and high quality mostly depends on the kind of heat press machines that you select to get the job done.

However, sometimes even the best heat press machine will not give you your required result if not used properly. For this blog, we will focus on the mug press. So here is a step by step process on how to heat press for great results:

Step 1: The Right Heat Press for Mugs

Ideally, mugs can be pressed with a combo multi attachment mug heat press that has a separate attachment for the specific mug shape you using including standard 11 and 15 oz mugs, water bottles, steins, latte mugs and/or pint glasses. Other than that, you could go with one that is specifically designed for standard mugs. Use sublimation glass, ceramic or metal mugs for the best results.

Step 2: Design the Image

Using specialized software that you can purchase from HeatPressNation.com, design the graphic that you want printed. Make sure you reverse the digital image using the image editing software.

Step 3: Print Image Using Sublimation Paper

Using the sublimation paper, you will need to imprint the graphical image on the mug. Make sure the colors are right. Send the image to be printed on your sublimation printer, then trim the extra sublimation paper to form the shape of your graphical design.

Step 4: Transfer Image to Mug

Apply the right pressure on the mug, so that it sits securely. Next, set your heat press to the proper temperature. Throughout this time, make sure you take safety measures and wear protective gloves while dealing with the heat press equipment. Place the design face-down on the mug, and make certain it stays securely over it with heat resistant tape. When the heat press is ready, place pressure on the mug to imprint the image.

Great, You’re Done!

Once the printing is accomplished, peel off the sublimation paper off the mug.. You could also immediately submerge it in lukewarm water for it to cool off.

Rhinestone Decoration: Bling it up!

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 3:02:33 AM America/Los_Angeles

Innovation. Style. Glamour. What better way to get all these themes into your T-shirt design than by incorporating rhinestones. Nowadays, this specific design has taken the fashion industry by storm, with several celebrities “blinging up” their outfits.

If you’re looking to get a piece of the glittery pie, then you will want to provide your customers with a variety of t-shirt designs using rhinestones. Is it possible? HeatPressNation.com is here to provide you with the solution!

Items You Require

Your dazzling projects need a few basic equipments and supplies. Here they are:

  • Vinyl Cutter, one that can cut through 15-30 mils thickness
  • Software for design
  • Stick Flock Stencil Material
  • Weeding tools
  • Heat Transfer Press
  • Paint brush
  • Backer boards
  • Transfer tape- Hot-fix acrylic thermal
  • Rhinestones in colors and sizes of your choosing

The Bling Process

Here is the step by step process:

Design the Graphic Image

When selecting the right software, make sure you go for a specialized one, specifically designed for rhinestone patterns. For this purpose, we recommend the vector design software "WINPCSIGN 2014 Pro Design, Cutting and Rhinestone Software. Then identify the size of the stones that you are going to apply. This will help you determine the number of rhinestones that will be used in the printing.

Shape Conversion

Next, you need to convert the shapes into an engraving of the pattern with the rhinestones. Ensure that you get rid of all collisions, that is, overlapping of rhinestones on the t-shirt. This should be checked before you send it for printing.

Place Stencil Film into Cutter Plotter

Now, while loading the stencil film on the cutter plotter, adjust settings that are appropriate for the process. Use a 60 degree blade, instead of the popular 45 degree, due to the thickness. But make sure you run a test before the weeding process.

Cutting & Weeding

Once the cutter processes your pattern, you will have a cut-out rhinestone design. Instead of weeding out all holes, pull the positive space up from the release liner, ultimately allowing the holes to be there on the liner.

Design the T-shirt with Rhinestones

Placing your stencil on the backer board, pour the hot-fix rhinestones onto the stencil. Then brush the surface using the paint brush. The stones will end up falling in the hole. Cover your stencil with the transfer tape and gently rub with a soft squeegee.

Heat Press It

After placing the tape and rhinestones on the t-shirt, press it for about 10-15 seconds at 320 degrees Fahrenheit.  Finally, allow it to cool off.
