Quick Guide To Heat Transfers & The Heat Press

Are you looking to customize items? We've got you covered! We have a range of apparel such as t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, and even fabric accessories like lawn flags or tote bags. We also offer hard surface gift items like coffee mugs, drinkware, coasters, and photo panels. Before we dive into all of that, let's talk about some basics for starting your custom heat transfer business.

You'll want to consider what kind of heat transfers you'll be using. Heat transfer vinyl is a great option as it's easy to use and economical. It works well with cotton fabrics, poly blends, and more. It comes in standard and specialty colors, patterns, and finishes. Sublimation is best for white or light-colored polyester fabrics, and there are many hard surface blanks to choose from. White toner is a good choice for full-color graphics on dark cotton fabrics and other materials.

When it comes to machines, Silhouette and Siser have excellent vinyl cutters for beginners, while Vinyl Systems, GCC and Graphtec are great for businesses of all sizes. For sublimation, Sawgrass printers are the industry standard. For white toner printing, Crio and Uninet have printers that work well.

For successful heat transfer application, consistent heat and pressure are crucial. This is where a good heat press comes in. Heat Press Nation is the market leader and offers budget-friendly options as well as robust pro machines.

I am looking for a heat press that will fuse iron on interfacing to cotton fabric. Nothing fancy that is all it will be doing. Must be at least 17” wide

Sublimation paper for dark. After pressing the colors are dull. I did the temperature at 380° for 40 seconds

I’m interested in printing on wood. Can the transfer images be heat pressed on a thin plywood surface or mdf type board?

Thanks- Priscilla
