Q: I want to get into sublimation printing for cotton T-shirts, Baseball hats & coffee cups. I understand there are polyester powders for printing on cotton. Which powder do you recommend? I also want to sublimation heat print on sublimation prepared coffee cups. I have a Sawgrass 400 on the way. Do I need a different sublimation heat transfer paper to use the powder on for cotton and a different paper for coffee cups? Should I use the regular sublimation paper with the powder? Does a cotton polyester blend t-shirt work well without the powder? Thank You for your time... Matthew

Posted On: 9/16/2018 By: Matthew Dunham

A: Hello Matthew, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we are not familiar with this polyester powder method you are referring to. You may need to check with the manufacturer of this powder product to see what they can recommend. When sublimating, we only recommend materials and substrates that are 100% polyester or poly coated from the manufacturer so that this process can successfully work without hassle.
Q: Do I use the same Pro Grade Non-Stick Sheet for Coffee Mugs? If not what do I use?

Posted On: 9/16/2018 By: Matthew Dunham

A: Hello Matthew, when sublimating onto a mug with a mug press, you do not have to use a non-stick sheet. But for any reason you would like to just to prevent any ink dissipation from staining your heating element, you can definitely use one.
Q: how is it attached to the heating platen? or is it just laid on top of the transfer paper each time?

Posted On: 7/17/2018 By: don dempsey

A: Hello Don, this would just be a sheet so you would have to lay it on top of your heat transfer before you press. If you want an actual cover, please do look at our other supply the Pro Grade Non-Stick Upper Platen Protector.
Q: Do you recommend one of these for anmug heat press?

Posted On: 2/23/2018 By: Dustin Lewis

A: Hi Dustin, with TexPrint R, there is really no need to add an additional cover sheet as the ink will not bleed through the paper. You will only have to worry if your sublimation ink is printed on the edge of the paper will it can dissipate onto your heating element. If you are leaving a bleed trim, you should be perfectly fine.
Q: Is this similar to using silicone paper for dark transfers and approximately how many uses can you get from each sheet?

Posted On: 10/30/2017 By: Giovanni

A: This is different from the silicone parchment paper you're mentioning. Both of these products will definitely keep your heating element protected with dark transfer applications. However, our the Pro Grade Non-Stick Sheet will leave a more shinier finish. If you would like a matte finish, we would recommend going with the Pro Grade Parchment Paper roll we carry (silicone paper).
